there are some times that your achievements are so great and the outcomes so good that you are truly really proud of your self. For 2 minutes that is, until you see the better way to do things. But those 2 minutes are the ones that keep you going.
there are some other times, such as this one, that you are simply happy for the starting point you 've set to yourself.
This starting point is the outcome of my initial research. This consists of the findings for the most common chair configurations in conferences,
the points of reference that organizers look at when looking to buy conference chairs, and the thoughts and problems audiences have in conference rooms.
in the diagram above one can see how the audience grades their visual access to the screen and speakers (top grade being 5).
It is easy to see how the angle between chair and screen and its position in the room influence visual accessibility.
The room is divided in 9 smaller areas, to help research and outcome evaluation.
in the above diagram perception of accessibility from corridor to seat and from seat to door is illustrated. for each smaller area, difficult accessibility is shown in red, and easy in green. as in the previous case, grading came from the audience.
the above diagram shows the factors taken into account by buyers, when choosing chairs for conference centers.
As research has shown, buyers are interested (from most to less important factor) in efficient storage, competitive price, easy cleaning, aesthetics, robustness, easy transportation, comfort and material.
so i m happy to say that i ve come to the real beginning of this thesis, as i just finished my first three chapters.
I will take this happy moment and say nothing else, and worry about the better way later on, in the re-evaluation that is sure to come.
